Two Chapter 1’s & Titles

So my NaNoWriMo is going…well. I’m not even going to go into that. It’s going, is all I can say.

But, now, I officially have two chapter ones.

One chapter for my original fiction.

And one for my Teen Wolf fiction.

But I was wondering how to do chapter titles. In some books, like Heroes of Olympus, the title is the name of the narrator – eg Annabeth, or Jason. But in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the chapter titles were something different, like “I blow up my school” (example, I don’t actually know if that’s one of them!).

Using things like ‘I’ as chapter titles (Roman numerals etc) is good because it doesn’t take away from the story. However, if it’s meant to mean something (maybe you put a quote for the title or something like that) then it would work. Just whatever works for your story, really.

That was a pointless piece of information/tips, but I was wondering: what do you guys name your chapters?

NOW What Have I Gone And Done…

So. The big day is finally here: Day 1 of NaNoWriMo.

I haven’t finished for the day yet, and I’ll edit this later and add my final word count at the bottom, but so far I’m on 806. Considering my word count goal of each day is 662 (as I’m doing the YWP at a 20,000 goal due to exams), I think I’m doing pretty well, no matter how much I hate how I’ve written what I’m writing. Hopefully, my writing will get better, but, as always, I have my other fanfiction to fall upon if I need to. If, however, I actually enjoy writing this one (shock, horror!) then I know I’ll still have a chance to write my Teen Wolf one – BECAUSE THAT WILL GET DONE, WHETHER I LIKE IT OR NOT.

Anyway, what the title means: I have now joined up to NaBloPoMo, oh yes. (‘Oh dear’, more like.) National Blog Posting Month – post a post every day for the month of November.

I really don’t know how I’m going to do all this, plus exams, but you never know – maybe, by some miracle – it’ll happen. And hopefully it won’t be a load of crap.

Let’s hope it does [happen, I mean, not be a load of crap, but I’m sure you knew that. You didn’t? Rude.], otherwise you’ll have a really grumpy and annoyed blogger on your hands – and believe me, that is something you do not want.

So yes. And it didn’t even take me that long to write those 806 words!

On to the next hundred…

Edit: Yeah… I didn’t write any more. So end word count for day 1 = 806. 🙂

Why Am I Doing This… Again.

Ok, now we’ve got that out of the way, we can get onto the main topic of today’s discussion: National Novel Writing Month, more commonly known as NaNoWriMo.

Last November was my first NaNo, and I managed to pump out 40,000 words (I took part in the YWP) and win. In June (I think) I failed to complete the Camp – seriously, though, when did I think a talking Sylvanian Family was going to be a good idea?!

So anyway, this year, I am participating in the 2013 NaNo, with an annoyingly low word count of 20,000 (I might boost it up, who knows). ‘Why so low?’ I hear you ask – well, I also have my GCSE mocks in November, too! Yippity-yay. Obviously  I cannot wait.

So, in between going for A’s and A*’s in my mocks, I am also going to try and hit my word count. If I do not post for a while, you will know I have drowned in the sea of words.

Last year, I was the only one out of two other friends who tried for NaNoWriMo to even make it to Day 2. This year, I’m probably the only one stupid enough to attempt it.

So what am I writing? Well, I’m rebelling again – I have an original fiction novel planned, as well as a Teen Wolf (yay!) fanfiction planned. Can’t wait to get both of them started, I honestly can’t. Can’t wait to get both of them finished, too…

So whilst I am currently stressing out over planning and revision, and will be hyperactive due to no sleep and the stress of exams soon enough, are you guys attempting NaNoWriMo? Why? Why ever not, if you aren’t!?

Add me on NaNoWriMo YWP – MidnightBeast1098.
