I cannot believe that yesterday’s publication was my 700th published blog post on this little site!
I set up Sprinkled With Words in 2013 to talk about my love of books and literature, and writing. When I first started blogging, I posted dozens of writing advice posts, including a long grammar series! I poured hours and hours into my blog, spending every night after school and college typing on my laptop and pressing “upload” instantly, barely without a proofread.
Looking back at those posts now, I can see how much I’ve grown as a writer and a person. In 2013, I was a very sad person, and used blogging as an outlet. So many of my posts took place during difficult times in my life, and I’ve always been grateful to have this place (and my other blogs!) to escape to, though, wow, those are cringey to look back on. It was the last years of characters like Fred and Shane Dawson, who were larger-than-life, and I really tried too hard to put that in my writing!
Interestingly, though, some of my most popular blog posts today are still those ones I wrote all those years ago. Maybe I do need to have a look back through my old writing a little more. Who knows: maybe I’ve lost some of that spark I had once upon a time.
Though I’ve had breaks here and there in my blogging, I am still just as grateful as I was in 2013 when I first logged onto WordPress and set up that domain name. Blogging has helped me grow as both a writer and a person. I can’t quite believe, to be honest, I’ve been doing it for as long as I have.
Thank you to you, as well, whether you’ve been here since post 1 or post 699! I’m incredibly grateful that people read and take the time to respond to my posts. It makes such a difference when someone leaves a comment that makes you smile, especially when you’re having a bad day!
So there’s some ramblings about 700 posts (and hundreds of thousands of words!) written on this blog – 700 published posts, anyway. (Secret: I have nearly 120 posts in the draft box!) And here’s to the new posts to come!
