Hey guys! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted on this blog, but so I thought I’d return with a Mid Year Book Freak Out! These have been all over YouTube at the moment, and as we’re just over half way through the year I thought it’d be a good time to do my own!
This tag was created by Chami @ ReadLikeWildfire and Ely @ Earl Grey Books – originally on their book blog in 2014.
- Best book you’ve read so far in 2019?
I’m gonna go with SHE MUST BE MAD by Charly Cox for this one. This is a poetry book but I absolutely loved it. I cried so much, and just felt like, finally, my feelings were put into words! - Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019?
Absolutely gotta be DARK FIRE by CJ Sansom. I LOVE THIS SERIES but I’m having to limit myself because otherwise I will devour the entire series in a month and then I’ll have a major book hangover. If you love medieval murder mysteries, pick up this series! - New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?
To be honest, I haven’t really been keeping up with releases, oops! But I have yet to read HEARTSTOPPER by Alice Oseman which I really do want to read. - Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Oh this one is easy – TOP MARKS FOR MURDER by Robin Stevens. This is #8 in the Murder Most Unladylike/Wells & Wong series and it comes out in August! - Biggest disappointment?
THE CROSSING PLACES by Elly Griffiths. It was so hyped up for me, but the fatphobia was just… ugh. I had a big Twitter rant about this. I might carry on with the series because I enjoyed the mystery, but I’m not sure. - Biggest surprise?
EVERYTHING I NEVER TOLD YOU by Celeste Ng. I’ll definitely be picking up her other book! - Favourite new author (debut or new to you)?
Lucy Powrie! Her debut novel THE PAPER & HEARTS SOCIETY released in June, and I devoured it! - Newest fictional crush?
I’m gonna say William from SHOULD YOU ASK ME by Marianne Kavanagh. He’s so sweet & I wanna give him a cuddle. - Newest favourite character?
Hmm, not sure about this one. Perhaps Arty from THE GIRL WHO CAME OUT OF THE WOODS by Emily Barr. - Book that made you cry?
Ugh. GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM by Michelle Magorian. I cried for ages. - Book that made you happy?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT? by Freddie Flintoff! It made me laugh aloud so many times. - Most beautiful book you’ve acquired this year?
I feel like I haven’t really bought many books this year, although I don’t think that can be true! EVERYTHING I NEVER TOLD YOU by Celeste Ng has a very pretty cover! - What book(s) do you need to read by the end of the year?
So many! All the books! - Favourite bookish community member?
For the second time on this list, I want to mention Lucy Powrie. I just love her!
So there you go – my mid-year bookish freak-out. I hope you’ve found some recommendations on here! I’ve read 34 books this year so far according to Goodreads, and I’d like to read a few more by the end of the year. What’s your favourite book you’ve read so far this year?
Until the next time,
Hannah @ Sprinkled With Words 🙂
